THE EDMONTON CITY DART LEAGUE
IS A VOLUNTEER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
DEDICATED TO ENCOURAGING AND PROMOTING
THE SPORT OF DARTS IN EDMONTON

DARTS is one of the fastest growing recreational activities and
competitive ameteur sports in Canada. Canada's National Youth
Development Program has been recognized as one of the World's best
youth programs.
The Edmonton City Dart League's objectives include promoting the
development of darts from the recreational to the elite levels. The
development and encouragement of Amateur Sport has long been and
continues to be an important activity in our society. This is evident
by the inception and continuation of events such as the Western
Canada Games, the Canada Summer Games, the Canada Winter Games, and
the World Olympics.
As the organizing body of the Klondike Open Dart Tournament, we
are pleased to announce that it has been recognized as World-Class
and now as a World Ranked Tournament.

League Profile
The Edmonton City Dart League was founded in 1946 by returning
veterans of the Second World War and continues to play in the Service
Clubs located throughout the city. To the best of out knowledge it
the oldest City Dart League in North America. Membership is made of
of male and female players ranging in age from 18 years to 72 years
with the average age range being 25 to 35 years.
The E.C.D.L. plays a traditional 501 "DOUBLE IN - DOUBLE OUT"
game of darts in 3 formats :
- Regular Format........15 games of triples
Super Format...........Round Robin of Doubles and Singles, 5 games
of Triples
Premier Format........Round Robin of Doubles and Singles(best of
3), 5 games of Triples
For the 1995 - 96 Season, we have had 73 teams register to play.
The minimum required number of players for a team is three with a
maximum of five. The season runs from Sept. 28 to (including the
Banquet and Hangover Shoot) May 12 with the evening of play being
Thursday.
Playing in the Premier Format are the "Top" 12 teams in
the League followed by the next 36 teams(12 to a Section) playing the
Super Format. The remaining teams make up 3 section playing the
Regular Format.
