What Will You do in 2002?
If you compete in ADO playoffs next year, you could end up in St. Louis, Stamford, Conn., North Lake Tahoe or Las Vegas at the national playoffs. In a conference call this week, the board of directors voted to grant national playoffs as follows: Masters finals will take place prior to Blueberry Hill in St. Louis; All-Stars will be held in conjunction with the Connecticut Open; U.S. Team will be hosted by Truckee Meadows at North Lake Tahoe; cricket finals (in early 2003) will be held in conjunction with the Las Vegas Open. Cricket finals for the regionals scheduled for early November, 2001 will take place prior to the Bluebonnet Open in Houston in January, 2002.
All arrangements are contingent on hostsí acceptance of new requirements for national playoffs as decided by the board this week. Those guidelines will be available to all clubs within the week.
In addition, the board granted WDF ranking to the following tournaments for 2002: Las Vegas Open, Blueberry Hill and Witch City Open. WDF ranking is made possible by virtue of the ADOís membership in the World Darts Federation. There is no cost to host organizations for the ranking; however, first consideration is normally given to tournaments of $20,000 or more. All sanctioning fees are paid by the ADO and WDF logos and report forms are provided to host organizations. The most recent WDF rankings included 55 ADO members who had earned world ranking points in ADO events this year. The Las Vegas Open, traditionally scheduled for the first weekend in February, will be held Feb. 8-10 in 2002 due to the rescheduling of the NFLís Super Bowl to Feb. 3.
